Any chance of selling via GamersGate?
« on: August 20, 2010, 11:08:08 PM »
I've been interested in this game for a while now and would love to buy it when it's released. However, I will NOT purchase from Impulse. The reason being their terrible treatment of some international customers and in my own case, being hounded on social networks by some of their employees simply for mentioning the negative experiences I've had with them and for querying some of the claims they've made in the past.

Anyhow, I simply refuse to purchase anything from them. Yet I would love to purchase the English language version of this game. So, please contact GamersGate and ask them about distribution. I know they will be interested in working out a deal (they've already stated as such). And if you sell over GamersGate, I'll be able to purchase this game and support your effort in introducing Japanese indie games to the west.

Thanks!

I'm fairly sure that at this point, they've contacted any and all digital distributors worth a damn. So if they can sell the game on GG/Steam/D2D/whatever, they will. And even if they do end up with Impulse as their only distributor, I would say it's still worth putting up with that, for the Greater Good.

I know they have yet to approach GamersGate, as when I asked them about it earlier in the week; they had never heard of the game.

Regarding, Impulse, no matter how good this game is, if it's Impulse only I will not purchase it. I'm sorry, but even the "greater good" has limits when faced with a company that acts in a childish manner, stalks customers via social networks (and in some cases, forums) to attack them when anything negative is stated, and in one case to even block the credit cards of an international customer who dared question why they were charged full price twice for a pre-order then refused a refund and kept waiting two days after release before finally being given access to their product.

That is simply not a company I can support anymore.

Agreed. After reading a bit about them.. I'm not at all sure I want to buy from them anymore.  :-X

I might probably do so, under a pseudonym. But I'm not giving them my CC number. I do hope there are other options; paypal, maybe.

You really, really need to find a different company. If you haven't contacted GamersGate, then pretty please do so; they're great.

You might also give some thought to selling directly. I don't know what a merchant account costs with your banks, but it's pretty cheap here.

Well, I'll just say that we're always exploring options when it comes to distributors. You may want to stay tuned.

However, I'd certainly like to hear the details of this, perhaps in PMs. This is rather out of joint with what we've experienced from Impulse so far, if I may say so.

I found GamersGate quality of service far more dreadful in my experience (which is limited to the one game, since I refuse to do business with a company that couldn't provide me a download faster than 30 kbps on something I paid for)

I don't know when you last did business with them, but they have improved their download speeds significantly. They used to only have servers in Europe, but now provide servers in the US too. I generally get speeds that max out my net connection when connecting to their US based servers these days.

For the record, the worst download speeds I ever got were from Steam a couple of years ago. When on average I would get speeds of 8 kb/s with a maximum of 50 kb/s. Nowadays my download speed on Steam is just a little slower than that of GamersGate.

This was within the last year, and they claimed to already have US servers at the time. Steam in comparison tends to max at 2mbps

I said it in another topic, but I'll repeat it here: out of the DDL distribution services, I much prefer to buy stuff through GamersGate. The main reason I like them better is their noninvasive installation method which doesn't leave a "platform" of crapware on your system, unlike Impulse or Steam. You get a downloader from them for each game which downloads and installs the game, which you can delete (or keep along with the setup files if that's your fancy) after installing the game.

While I appreciate the sentiment, there's only so much that fans can do to move any kind of process forward. The ball ultimately passes between our court and GamersGate's.

Last I checked I have an account with Gamersgate, bought around 10 games through them and were happy with the price and download system they presented. At least they are not like Steam who demands you to install their client to 'Download' a game I bought on a Hard Disk.... //Looks angry at Total War: Empires...//

Heck, If I hadn't lost my job due to the damn place closing down all of a sudden (Company thought that it wasn't worth running anymore) I would be buying more of the games I want from their site... T_T

Also like to note that Gamergate had been doing some Indie Games at special prices, I just bought one called Kingdom for Keflings for only 7USD... That could have been your money and I could have been playing Recettear...

Yeah I know Recettear isn't Indie, its a whatchamicallit when you do official translations like CFgames are doing. But some Westerners wouldn't know the difference, some don't even know how to find their way to a real RPG that isn't WoW or any other Generic MMORPG thats out there, even if you rubbed their noses in it, forced them infront of the computer with the game running, watched over them for hours on end, you just know the moment you blink its gone and their grinding something for the 10000000th time...

Wow... Shit, time for bed before I start Ranting... cough... Yeah.... Sleep sounds good right now...
