Configuration Screen Size issue
« on: December 25, 2011, 08:14:52 PM »
Hello, I'm Shotgun Steve. That's obvious enough, though.

I saw a few threads about technical issues, so I thought I'd post a thread here to see if anyone can solve mine.

When I play Recettear on my netbook, the framerate is flawless except during two scenarios. One where I'm in the shop Recettear, and when I'm in Dungeons. The game slows to a crawl.

I opened up the configuration screen, and saw that the fps was set to the highest setting. I changed it, and closed the window, but it didn't do anything, because I didn't save and exit. (d'oh.)

I tried sizing down the window, but I can't, and from the images I've seen of the configuration screen, only the top half of it fits on my netbook screen.

is there a way to size down the configuration screen? Any help would be appreciated.

There isn't. We've had a few complaints about this now, so we may try to see if we can get EGS to shrink it down a bit, though I can't make any guarantees on that front.

One thing you could try is going here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\recettear" and clicking on recet.ini.

If you don't have program files (x86), it's just "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\recettear".

You should see "fps=0" in one of the top lines. "0" is 60 FPS. You can set it to "1" for 30 FPS, "2" for 20 FPS, etc. To check and make sure you have the right settings, save the recet.ini file and open the configuration screen to see if the changes have been saved.

Alternatively you could try temporarily increasing the resolution while the config screen is open.

Thanks, you guys.

The editing through the steam files fixed the problem more or less. I'm running much better, but since I got a decent PC rig at home, I'm just being a choosy beggar.

Fixed the problem, thanks for the help.  8)

I've run into this type of problem (not with Recettear though) on my 1366x768 laptop occasionally. Does anyone know a way of shifting the top of the window off the top of the screen so I can get to the buttons at the bottom?

I don't remember which worked, but I'm pretty sure one of these two things worked for me.

1.  right click the screen, (plain old non internet screen), click properties, go to settings, and change your resolution.

2. change the text size you use to a smaller text size.

I THINK one of those two things worked for me, I had the same problem, and managed to correct it once, I just forgot exactly how.
