Steam Summer Sale - 2012 Edition
« on: July 12, 2012, 11:32:24 AM »
So, citizens, the steam summer sale has started, so scramble the squadrons and stock up several-

Okay, I can't do this.

The Steam 2012 Summer Sale has started today, which means all Carpe Fulgur titles 50% off (Chantelise is $5, Recettear is $10, and Fortune Summoners is $10).

Additionally, there are several other great games, such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Portal 2, and my new favorite, Crusader Kings 2 ($10, with heavily discounted DLC and $2.50 for the expansion) going for 75% off.

Also, if you've been sitting on the fence, the Gundemonium Collection is $5 for all three games (Recollection, GundeadliGne, and Hitogato Happa) or $2 a game if you need to round out your collection.

Terraria is $2.50 as well.

Please note that Terraria, Portal,  Crusader Kings and Gundemonium are daily sales, and Deus Ex is a flash sale, ending two hours from this post.

I picked up Legend of Grimrock as I heard it was pretty good and I just got paid.

For anyone thinking of getting into Grand Strategy, the Paradox Publisher pack is pretty much the best value-for-money gaming purchase the world has ever known.

If any interesting games are on sale that you can recommend, please let me know.  They don't have to be particularly good, just interesting.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

I've been wanting to try Gundemonium and Terraria for the longest time, and have heard they're well worth their full price, so I picked up those.

Other than that, I haven't found anything cheap that really grabs me. A lot of games are five, ten, fifteen dollars off, though.

Skyrim is $20 off now, so it's only $40 if anyone wants to get it at that price.

Just found this one-cent difference amusing.  That said, if I had the money I'd gladly pay an extra cent to the people who brought us Recettear and helped in part to pave the way for Japanese/animesque games to reach western gamers through Steam.

I wonder if there'll be like a single day when everything's 75% off though.

Bummer. Not all that great of timing for me. I'm known to buy extra copies of things for my friends. If just to support the industry. Goodness knows I want to promote the doujin game industry in general and certainly in the West.

I'm feeling pretty broke right now though. A lot of stuff have happened lately to sap my wallet, and I'm not feeling particularly generous. If Recettear or Fortune Summoners was like, $5, I'd get a couple for my inventory to give to some people. But the $10 price tag is just enough to make me feel slightly poor.

I have house work I've done recently, an Atlus sale I've cleaned up on, a trip out of state, an extra 2TB internal hard drive, and the Nintendo Wii U, and several games being released very soon I need to be ready to get or even just have the money for my pre-orders I've already made. Pokemon Black & White 2, just to name one of them. All cutting into my bank account.

Not a good time for me to be blowing money on a sale.

Ys: Origin is currently $7.99, and will be so for the next five hours, in a "flash sale".

Over the whole summer/mid-year sale period, though, it will still be discounted to $11.99.  (base price $19.99)

Ys: the Oath of Felghana is currently $5.09 (base price $14.99), and this is for the whole summer sale.

I haven't played any of the modern Ys games (only played Ys 1 for NES, and barely), but based on what I'm seeing from the gameplay screenshots, it seems this sort of game is what the dungeon-diving parts of Recettear were based on.

I've noticed that for this sale so far, there is thus far absolutely nothing I want to buy, because all the games I'm interested in I already have from a previous sale.

It kind of puts things in perspective. Even if I miss a sale now, I just have to wait a half-year or a year before another one comes around, not including Steam's usual Daily Deals.

I figure most (if not all) of you have Recettear already, but if you know someone who wants to buy it during this summer sale, can you do me a favor?

Let me know, and buy me Steam's Indie Bundle V (the one that has Ys Oath and Audiosurf), which costs the same amount, and I'll trade you (or your friend) a copy of Recettear that's sitting in my inventory.  Thanks!

Railway Simulator 2012 is on at 90% off with all the DLC half price.

5 hours sunk into that game, I regret nothing.

40-something hours into Terraria later, I realize I just might have a problem.

Here!

If you buy them as a bundle, you save a staggering four cents. This deal is negative four hundred percent better than the usual bundle, so I recommend buying.

Called it.

I've been telling my friends that CF games get discounted -75% on two days every year; once during the mid-year/summer Steam sale and once during the end-of-year/winter Steam sale.

Pretty sure someone over at Steam HQ can't do maths. buying a bundle for $12.43 instead of $49 is more than 4 cents, but meh

The games total 12.47 if you buy them separately during the sale.

The bundle is only 4 cents cheaper.
