So any thoughts or plans for seeing if the rebranded GOG.com will carry your games? Since they now carry Indie stuff.

Been givin' it some thought, not gonna lie, since I do love the shit out of GOG and their attitudes on DRM and the like match ours perfectly. We aren't quite ready for a permanent price drop on Rec yet, and deffo not on our other titles, though, so I dunno if GOG would want to play ball at the "base $20" range.

We will see, though. :-*

Yeah they seem to have relaxed their pricing with the change though. e.g. Grimrock $12, Whispered World $15... how relaxed they have made it is of course a question.

Actually, from what I understand the fixed 4.99/9.99 prices only ever applied to classic games. Newer games were never fixed at prices like that. Take the Witcher 2 for example, which was released at, IIRC, 49.95.

Not sure how old-but-recently-translated indie titles fit into this picture, however.

Isnt it a bit early for Recettear to go to GOG?

I personally havnt gotten around to using GOG yet due to my backlog but Ild always thought the most attractive part about GOG is renewing intrest in very old games or giving gamers an easy way to play old games on newer operating systems and hardware with mods like higher resolutions.

Considering how Microsoft are, im in no doubt they'll bring out a new Windows or DirectX which will bork half the games on steam at somepoint

Recettear isn't very new.  Well made, but not new.  In any case, I really would like to see Carpe Fulgur working with GOG.  :)

The whole point of this post is that GOG is expanding into "newer" indie games as well.

So Recettear could easily get on GOG now, if we wanted to, I think.

The main issue is that you'd have to be able to negotiate international rights for the games, since GOG has no regional restrictions or regional pricing (apart from the Witcher 2, but that's because Namco are bullies).

I vote for trying to get Carpe Fulgur into GOG's catalog.

Steam's popularity does somewhat eclipse the others, so it's quite easy to miss them. But yeah, some DD sites I use are GOG, GamersGate, Desura and Indievania. GOG is my favourite because of their strict DRM-free policy, but I'm becoming a fan of Desura too.

I know that Recettear is already on Impulse and GamersGate (and I don't know next to nothing about Impulse other than it seems to be GameStop's digital distribution arm).

But on a related note: Does CF (or EGS or LizSoft) have any plans to feature the games in any bundles?  Not necessarily a pay-what-you-want bundle; could be a fixed-price bundle, especially since I know that Recettear and Fortune Summoners are base-priced rather high as far as PWYW bundle games usually go.

I know that Recettear was already featured in a bundle shortly after its release, but just wondering if any of them will be featured in future bundle promotions.

I'm guessing that this is probably a decision that's more up to EGS/LizSoft rather than CF, as EGS/LizSoft would be the actual developer.  I'm aware that Cave Story + was already featured in a Humble Bundle, and the Gundemonium series is currently being featured on Indie Royale, but I don't know what EGS/LizSoft think of this idea.

(Let me know if this should be split onto another thread, as I'm new here.  Thanks.)

since I mentioned this in a totally unrelated topic to this due to my inability to use forum searches before posting in semi-unrelated topics: gog goes up to $20 now / possibly higher if they start getting newer stuff.

no reason at all to not slide on in (esp since it would provide a bump of public visibility that you guys are still kicking) ....

*edit* and yes I'm a total GOG-whore.
