"OH GOD I'M CRASHING WHYYYYYYY HELP" - Read this!
alexsdu:
Installed the demo from Steam last week.
Couldn't play it with message: "Recettear Demo has stopped working." I was like,"OK, maybe some problems with Steam...as always."
So I went download the demo from other site.
Installed it in my PC - same result.
Download the demo from several sites, but received the same result.
Figured it might be something to do with my PC, so I tried it at my office's PC and guest what, the damn thing works!
That mean, something DEFINITELY got to do with my home PC.
FYI, my home PC OS is Windows7, while my office's PC's is Windows XP.
Any help would be pretty much appreciate.

Okay!
The newest patch made the game PLAYABLE! \o/
Sadly..... I have no sound... BUT HEY.... It's not crashing!
SpaceDrake:
So I'll point out at this juncture:
If you're not getting any sound, it's you, not the game.
The crashes were being caused by Recettear's "cannot find sound device" exception not being handled correctly; instead of continuing without sound, the game crashed. The game won't crash anymore, but if the game is proceeding without sound, that means that for some reason Recettear cannot access your sound device. In Windows 7, you should check your user profile and ensure that you are allowing programs full access to your sound device as Win7 can sometimes restrict access to certain devices depending on configuration.

Well, your computers settings would be more appropriate, but lets not play the blame game. :)
Laden Swallow:
I have discovered a new crashing error, can diagnose part of the problem at least, and a partial solution:
Problem: Game crashes on startup when using fullscreen mode when previously it has worked fine.
Diagnosis: Recent changes are M!crosoft doing an update for mouse drivers (optical comfort 3000 or something like that).
Solution: Use taskmanager to end process on ipoint.exe then launch the game. Cannot restart this process until finished playing. Other option if full screen mode isn't necessary is to play in a window, however I like the game to take up the full screen, and as the monitor is widescreen, using 'full screen' mode allows black bars to be used, instead of windows maximising a window causing it to stretch the perspective.
Suggestions to fixing this issue would be appreciated if I can do it this end. (I do sometimes use the functionality given by ipoint.exe (and without it I cannot access the 4th button on the mouse).
