They basically implied full mapping; i can't map the dpad with my industry standard xinput xbox360 wireless controller. LEt's say the mapping isn't working the way it should be. Also let's be honest who wouldn't rather play with the dpad vs the analog stick for a 2d side scroller? Seems kinda a sloppy oversight. So its either play with the controller with analog (no way for a 2d side scroller including the bonus of the physics of characters who move on ice!) or keyboard (which isn't the reason I paid 50+ for a industry standard controller). Also let's all be honest and just say carpe isn't going to release a patch unless they feel they HAVE to and if it does it will be maybe a patch after several MONTHS given their track record for speedy response time. Claiming that as a translator who's selling the product they shouldn't have to fix the bugs and errors is stupid as they licensed it and it's their business to get their product fixed properly. Unless you feel money grows on trees; then go ahead and throw away cash on products that "sorta" work like they should. Lot's of companies love those kind of customers.
No words are going to change the fact that I can't map my controller as they claim. Simple as that. Now I'm just waiting until they fix it like it should be without having to wait several months if ever for a patch. I don't waste money to get a game without proper controller support; especially when their press release was literally screaming about it. Tell me how thats not their fault and responsibility to fix???

SpaceDrake has stated on record the lack of d-pad support is a design decision by Lizsoft.

Lizsoft insists that d-pads "don't provide enough information" for control
What kind of answer is that? Vague and nonspecific. Huh? Its a 2d side scroller not some highly advanced simulator. Sounds like a lame excuse. Either its pure unadulterated laziness or they don't really know how to program and just wanna deal with only text translating. Design choice? Yeah right. It's a 2d sidescroller who would design this otherwise, also if thats the case why let the pc have digital control and not the controller. Seriously??? They overlooked a basic control scheme and are backpedaling by saying they planned it like that. Sure Carpe.
Ugh... sounds like they are lazy and just don't wanna bother taking the time to update it beyond a text patch. Seriously don't mean to knock them but is anyone else getting that impression??
Again sorry to derail this topic.

You seem to be assuming one big thing about Carpe Fulgur: Carpe Fulgur does NOT do any programming work besides very simple insertion of scripting assets (which is probably done with tools provided by the game's creators). All programming for Recettear, Chantelise, and Fortune Summoners were done by their original creators. This might surprise you, but among localization companies this is the norm rather than the exception. Carpe Fulgur is a three-man team consisting of a translator/developer liaison, editor/PR, and an art guy. There is no programmer on staff.
Also, on the issue you're complaining about, BlondRobin elaborates on exactly what was said and further emphasizes it is something beyond their control.
SpaceDrake:
To be totally honest, I'm a bit annoyed that the d-pad can't be remapped for movement controls myself... but if the man at Lizsoft says he can't do it, well, he can't do it. We aren't about to scream at him over it or demand he hand over his source code or whatever. Fundamentally, it's his game, and designing the controls falls to him.
Linkxsc:
I take it here noone's tried to use joy2key before? If getting the Dpad to work is really that important, you can use that.
