Question on rules: Regarding youtube videos.
« on: February 05, 2012, 03:27:06 AM »
I notice not too many videos here link to youtube. As well I don't see a lot of pictures, much less anyone using a reaction image, even if it comes with plenty of text accompanying it. I thought maybe because this pictures thing would seem too spammy and internet cliche. And youtube videos because of the copyright rules.

But I'm just curious as to the status quo on pictures and videos, and if it's a coincidence or not. How comfortable and with what frequency are you comfortable with people posting pictures and/or videos?

I'm not sure about actual copyright preferences on the forum for the CF trio (I'd imagine they'd have little problem with posting links to images and videos, but it's safer to check), but I should mention that for my part, the last I checked, there's no working [img] tag on this forum to display inline images. Probably intentionally so, to prevent spamming.

It should explain why images are linked to rather than shown, though.

That's another spam post I'm saving for posterity. You inspire the bots, kellis :3

Oh, to answer the question (how'd I miss this the first time?), pictures are turned off to make moderation easier (e.g. nobody, including the tiny number of bots which still escape our net, can post dirty stuff). So long as it isn't fully-pirated material (like no linking to unauthorized YouTube videos of full anime episodes or w/e) or isn't otherwise illegal in the States (no videos calling for violent death to America, thanks) we've no problem with linked videos.

And yes, people can make videos of our games as they wish. :V

I think that's possibly the first time I've rated a definite article. The dkellis.

... I'm obtaining my sense of self-worth from a spambot.
