I have played a lot of platformers and in this game I am having trouble even hitting the bats out of the air. I feel like the game doesn't move very fluidly and there large windows where you can't attack. Am I the only one that feels this way or am I just bad at the game? If so I would appreciate some tips. I really enjoy everything else; the art style, the characters, the music.

You're trying to play it like a button masher. It's not a button masher.

Arche plays more fighting game style. You have to think about your moves. If you have trouble with it. when available, you can play as the mages and do more distance attacks.

Alright. I will keep that in mind. I still don't feel like the games combat is very fluid but maybe I just need to get used to it. Would using a controller help?

I use a controller and find it easier to use.
For bats an up + attack move if timed while its diving at you seems to help.

If you have one, I absolutely recommend it. I played on a 360 controller.

I'm using a keyboard (never could play anything with a console controller..,). Agreed, if you think more like one of those vs fighters in the arcades, or of Capcom's famous side-scrolling brawlers from the 90s, you'll get the hang of the game.

The game has a pretty steep learning curve and I often wanted to throw my controller out of the window to see how far it goes, because I got pummeled by something. Now that I pumped several hours into the game, I got better with Arche. Sometimes even a level up for a new skill makes combat against certain enemies a lot easier.

I´m used to fighting games, but I´d still say that Fortune Summoners controls aren´t the best.

I'm glad someone else feels the same way as me lol. Maybe we'll get a patch that smoothen things out  :)

You aren't going to get a patch to "smoothen out" the games overall combat system. Some people will like it, and some people won't. Like any other combat system.

I have a friend who is playing the game right now and I seem to have an easier time with it then he does. It's not going to be a winner for everyone, but you aren't just going to patch out the thing that makes the game unique.

Well I admit that it's grown on me, this system, but it does feel like Capcom's first attempt at porting D&D as a side scrolling brawler. Now Tower of Doom was VERY technical and strict on Cancel points and hit/recovery stun. I can deal with it, not many others can. <_<

PS: Don't expect CF to fix this; they only translate. You won't see a real system patch unless Mel decides he(?) wants to work on the game further. CF could only fix issues in EGS games because EGS was willing to put some extra hours in.

I would much rather see Mel work on a squeal or a new game then fix a thing that's not broken.

Well, i'd call a game that is unplayable because it constantly crashes before you even get to the first dungeon "broken"

I meant as far as the combat goes. I've not had any performance issues so I can't really speak to that.
