Question about Merrin's Staff and Copocola Strap

Right after getting and wearing the Copocola Strap (which discription says "Maybe you'll be lucky if you wear it.") I got the Merrin's Staff.
I was curious if perhaps the Copocola Strap ups your chance of getting the Merrin's Staff?
Can anyone possibly confirm this?

Not that I've seen.  I've been wearing one for a while and put about 2k into the machine so far with no success.

Weird because after like not much more than 20 tries I got it.
