Fortune Summoners (un)official soundtrack?
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:32:39 AM »
It seems the game's soundtrack isn't available outside of simply recording them in-game, so this youtube user kindly did just that: http://www.youtube.com/user/Yeshaih/videos

I don't think this counts as anything improper to post on the forums it literally seems to be an audio-only recording of the game.. xD I just wanted to find a couple of tracks which I really liked from the game (namely labyrinth of night and surprisingly metal stella) might as well share it here since I didn't find any related posts.

I would love if Fortune Summoners' soundtrack was released digitally like Receattear and Chantelise's were; it's by far my favorite OST out of the three.

Having finaly completed FS this week, I really approve of this.  The music in this game is definitely impressive.  Hell, the whole game is.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

I actually did investigate this and the last answer we got was "not interested", sadly. :( We may try again in the future (hilariously enough we have the files but not the permission to sell them) but Lizsoft did not seem super-interested when we asked last, which made me sad. Because I agree - parts of the soundtrack are phenomenal.

Hah! The soundtracks are awesome though I feel like the "enter stella" one is a bit of a spoiler to me. Does she really become that epic? XD

Why are they not interested?  Do they feel their work isn't good enough to be sold on its own?  Are they concerned about piracy?  Or what?

Now that I've played through the game...

This is one brilliant soundtrack.  The tracks have a lot of charm to them, and are clearly very well-written.  (I think it's better than Recettear's!)

If it's piracy they're concerned about they should note that fans will get to it anyway, such as that youtube playlist posted earlier.  It's much better if they give fans (like myself) who are willing to throw money at them the opportunity to throw money at them and get maybe a spiffy set of MP3s in return.

I wonder when the next Game Music Bundle is coming up.  Perhaps it could be featured there.

La-Mulana's soundtrack (and the game too) were featured in the Groupees "Build a Greenlight Bundle".  Maybe CF and LizSoft could look at how NIGORO is doing with their soundtrack sales.  (NIGORO also put La-Mulana's OST on bandcamp, I think.)

^^ That track could simply be renamed.  And I lol'd when that track came on too.

While it's not too difficult to find the actual music files used by the game and proceed to copy them elsewhere, I was hoping to buy the soundtrack at a higher quality than the game uses. (bitrate:~137-163kbps) (I want to listen to this beautiful music while programming and whatnot).

Why do they make it so difficult for the average (and by average I mean the type wouldn't understand the output of lsof) user to find the music files on their own if they don't plan on selling them. Is the soundtrack supposed to be a game seller or something? Why then is there no "sound test" like many older games where you can listen to the music without needing to be paying attention to the game?

I also find it strange a user would decide to record the music instead of simply making a copy of the music files and uploading those, (wouldn't have any of the problems recording has and it would be more efficient) but that's a different story. Maybe it's related to copyright or something (I don't know anything about copyright).

Somewhat off-topic but still related: In the steam store it says the game requires "Hard Drive:250 MB HD space" but with the music files factored in, this seems to be an underestimate.

Curiously, how do you extract the music files?

I would gladly tell you how to copy the files... but I'm not too sure there wouldn't be anyone who'd be upset by it (seeing as how they didn't simply throw the music files in the steam-app's common directory). Obviously I don't want to upset someone at one of my favorite companies.

Go ask SpaceDrake or a nerdy friend of yours or something because I don't really want to get involved with spreading that information.
