Unable to get into the Wind Shrine.
« on: January 31, 2012, 02:32:39 AM »
So I just transferred my demo save and began playing the full version. Unfortunately, after the first cutscene and the getting of new goals, I appear to be stuck.

The Wind Shrine is guarded. It appears the guard would leave his post once the bridge is restored, but I have no idea how to manage that. There's also that thing with the woman by the broken bridge who could potentially provide a distraction, but, like the guard, she seems to have no intention of leaving. The only place that I have not checked by now is the Cave's Dungeon, but I can't really imagine that there would be help in there.

Any ideas how to get the broken bridge unbroken, or at least the guard away from where he is? In hindsight, it will probably be perfectly logical and leave me wondering how I could have missed it.

Go talk to the lady in the house next to Arche's house.

I should of been more cryptic, like Nintendo help center:

"Find a lady who wants to give her son some lunch."

Well, yes, you should have been. I wouldn't have developed an acute hatred of merkids for another ten minutes.

You'll love Mothbees, then.

And Yellow Slimes.

And Kobolds.

Oh man these enemies.

I seem to be having an issue. I went to the lady beside arche's house and brought the guard his lunch, but he still won't let me inside the wind shrine. There's pretty much nothing I can do, went everywhere again just incase, but the guard simply won't let me in and I already gave him his lunch. Was wondering if anyone else was having this problem, or if I just did it wrong

Those yellow slimes are the only enemies that annoy me.  Kobolds and mothbees are pretty simple when you get the pattern down, but the yellow slimes just rape you until you back off a little bit.  But sometimes, you just can't lol.

Now, talk to the lady next to the broken bridge (get out of the town by going left of the inn, go on, you'll find her)

Wow, these game mechanics brings a lot of memories of old games. Landstalker anyone?

Ah, thanks, I'll try that next. I went through the entire first cave again because I recalled someone mentioning I dropped a tablet, and I'd already checked the bridge.

You're going to have to get used to talking to everyone in this game.  You should also be checking everyones cupboards and such for items.

Speaking of Wind Shrine, I think it's now one of my most hated dungeons of any game ever.

Simply because, after all that torture, the boss(es) took about thirty seconds, if even that.

Anticlimax FTW. -_-

I'm in the Wind Shrine now. Well, I was until I made a temporary retreat to rest at the inn and to resupply since I underestimated my health needs and Sana was out of MP... >_>

The merkids are fine... Except when there's three of them... Or if you have to fight past them underwater as solo Sana... Bastards.

Got my first Game Over in the Wind Shrine before I beat my hasty retreat, too. I'm definitely having a lot of fun, though. I can't stand these kids that complain about difficult or even mildly challenging games who think a game is only good if they can beat it without ever dying and I can't stand the way some developers baby them. In a few years time, mainstream games will allow you to walk in a room, press a button and all the enemies will just instantly die. Also God Mode will be in effect incase you choose to not press the button. When those days come we'll have nothing left BUT indie gaming, lol.

Oh, that's easy. You know what sucks? Two merkid leaders and one merkid mage. Or Poison Mothbees when you forgot to bring antidotes. Or a five-enemy clusterfuck of Sabercats Poison Mothbees and palette swapped Myconids. Or being under time pressure in solving a rather tricky riddle because you are poisoned and Sana's nearly OOM and you ran out of Better Herbs and Antidotes several corners ago. I arrived at Chantreux like two venom hits before death with Sana down. That's the kind of gaming moment that sticks in your mind.

Kobolds would be pretty easy if they didn't have guard-breaking downstab. Can't really get their guard patterns down, only kicking them in the face seems to work consistently. Yellow slimes don't guard but their range can be annoying. And Orgs don't give a flying fuck about whether you guard or not.

I wish the bosses were as hard as the rest of the game is.

Still. That anger and rage led to semi-satisfaction (the boss robbed me of true satisfaction) once I beat it.

Barness, ahoy!
