How do I use Zoom Mode?

It says that my screen resolution should be more than 1280 x 576 (which it is, it's 1440 x 900 btw) but I still get an error message telling me to increase the resolution.

for me zoom mode just makes the screen go black for a bit, then it shuts down as if nothings happened.

The zoom mode radio button in the launcher says that the minimum resolution is 1280x960. Your vertical resolution is only 900.

no clue what my resolution is, so thats probably the problem for me as well. windowed mode is good enough i guess.

Yeah, the zoom mode is nice clean 2x scaling, looks lovely on my 1280x1024 monitor (when I make it maintain aspect ratio obviously, otherwise everyone's too tall).
