Demo Issue: No Music
« on: July 22, 2010, 02:30:56 PM »
Hey there. After the fine people on Rock, Paper, Shotgun recommend this game I decided to check it out. I'm just getting into it but for some reason there's no music. All the other sounds (menu and voice) work fine, but the music does not seem to be playing. I've made sure the volume setting for it is switched on and I can't find any other options that might help. Does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong? The sound card I'm using is an old Sound Blaster Audigy which works perfectly with everything other game. I've also checked the demo's music folder (bgm) and made sure that the music files haven't been corrupted. Any idea what might be wrong?

Hm. Have you updated you Audigy drivers recently? The game's been previously tested on an Audigy, so there shouldn't be any issue on that front.

What OS are you using, etc?

I'm running Windows XP 32 bit. I tried updating my audio drivers with the latest version from the Creative site but was unable to. The installer couldn't detect any compatible hardware so I tried updating the driver via windows/device manager. After a reboot it now seems that I have a Sound Blaster Live 24-Bit. The sound card is still working (tried a few different games out) and Recettear performs as it did before.

I'm going to try a full uninstall/reinstall of the drivers now but I suspect that this issue comes down to a problem with my computer. Thanks for your quick response.

Edit: Either windows is playing games with me or I installed a SB Live card in instead of the Audigy I thought I did. Still no music, unfortunately, but thankfully my laptop isn't afflicted by such a problem. Does Recettear support this sound card?
