Game won't load after patch

After Steam applied the patch to Chantelise, it will no longer load the game. All that happens is a white screen appears with the message "This program has stopped working" and shuts down in seconds. Is anybody else having this problem? :/

Sounds like something downloaded incorrectly.  First copy your save.dat to another directory.  It should be here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\chantelise

Now delete local content from Chantelise in your Steam library and after it's done, install the game again.  Try running the game to see if it works.  If it works, exit the game and copy save.dat back to your Chantelise directory to restore your saves.

The advice given by the previous guy was dubious enough to make me register for an account... Yes, it will work but it will also waste your bandwidth...

I'd suggest choosing Properties, then going to the Local Files tab, and clicking "Verify integrity of Game Cache...".  This will download only the files that are corrupt and you shouldn't have to worry about moving the save file. 

On second thought, I'd make a backup copy of the save file anyway just in case.

Either way will work, but yes, try verifying your game client and/or backing up your save files and redownloading. The game patch should be just fine unless we really screwed something up (which I'm 99.9% sure we didn't because lots of other people are playing just fine).
