The topic pretty much says it all.  When I press the menu button it gives a Yes/No dialog for skipping the event and the game just kind of hangs.

I tried to re-create this issue in Jade Way Floor 1, on the first monster I encountered and:

Dying and pressing nothing - Take him back screen (tutorial thing), no hangs
Dying and skipping the cutscene - Item selection screen, no hangs.

Do you have the latest build of the demo from say, steam?

I got it from their main page only a few days ago.  I could download the steam version again and try it there.

I think it has to be the first death, when the event for dying is triggered and Tear tells you about how you can only bring one item. Otherwise there would be no event.

I've never had trouble skipping that event.  (And I've skipped that event loads of times, because I usually re-load my save as soon as we get back to the shop.)  That sounds like a pretty weird problem.  How reproducible is it?

If you want weird though, I once had to save in town, because I forgot to save in the shop, then I went dungeon diving, got killed, re-loaded the save, and STILL didn't have the items I brought with us into the dungeon.

Confirming that I cannot reproduce this in either the "normal" distributed demo or in Steam. Remember that if you skip the event you'll need to press Button 1 again to bring up the "choose the item to not lose" screen.

you mean the screen where they tell you, you get to choose 1 item after dying but no menu comes up? pressing your attack button brings that menu up though. not necessarily breaks the game, just an annoyance.

Didn't realize you had to press the action button to bring it up.  The way it just pauses without any indication of how to progress isn't a good thing though.

Well, since this isn't an actual bug, I'm going to go ahead and close the thread, I think, to avoid further confusion.
