Fine in one area, lag in the next.
« on: December 23, 2011, 07:14:16 AM »
Hi, when I play Chantetise, in the first grass areas (when you have to find the fortune teller) its fine. When I go into the ruins it lags way too much. How come this happens. I have reduced all settings to minimal. My brothers laptop is fine. Its like my laptop doesn't like something in that area.

What SpaceDrake would probably say is to check all your video drivers and then ask "what kind of video card, OS etc. you have?"
TG: and a ruined cake! it was going 2 be so delish, but no
TG: it was claimed by the cruel and unforgiving sands of lopan

My processor is a Intel atom CPU N270 1.7GHZ. I have 1GB ram and my display adaptor is a mobile intel 945 Express chipset family. And yes, it is a netbook.

To quote the Chantelise website:

Quote
Although the game will run on Intel Integrated Graphics chipsets, we do not recommend running the game on anything less than the X4000 chipset; earlier chipsets lack certain graphics instructions in hardware, and this will result in significant slowdown in certain areas of the game. If you must play Chantelise on such a system, you may wish to ensure that most or all of the graphics-simplification checkboxes are checked in custom.exe and play at the lowest resolution possible.

Short version is, your graphics processor isn't really going to cut the mustard for stable framerates. Sorry, man, blame Intel for being lazy as hell about implementing certain crucial features in their GPUs. :(

Agreed, your 945 is the bottleneck I'm afraid. 945 does geometry processing in software, not hardware. That's why the game will lag. You should've seen the flak against Intel back in the day...
