I believe LordZ means that they will improve their tool when they have more time unless EGS releases a patch which fixes the (probably buggy) undesirable behavior before LordZ gets around to improving the savegame editor feature written to deal with the (probably buggy) undesirable behavior in the game.

Just as a note, I tried to download and run this and it just crashed on me. It was awhile back, so I don't remember what it said exactly (if need be I can re-download and try it again), but I'm running Win7 without WMP.

I didn't have the .NET either, but I downloaded that and it didn't fix anything. Unless I need to move the wmp.dll somewhere specific, I'm lost.

I just want to edit my save files... it's such a mess...

I was talking about EGS fixing the bugs with selling equipment to adventurers and them not equipping it.  I only added the feature to swap items as a work around for that bug.

@QC:  It'd help if you told me what the error was.  Also, if you're missing files all you should have to do is download the setup for the original (has setup.exe and setup.msi in it), run the Setup.exe and then copy all of the files it makes over(though, keys.ini is optional now since the launcher will create a new one if one doesn't exist).  Then you just copy the files from the latest one over to it and overwrite it.

Specifically, what you need from the setup program is .NET framework and the .dll files it puts in the install folder.

dll files:
AxInterop.WMPLib.dll
Interop.WMPLib.dll

.NET Framework:

*EDIT*
I installed that .NET 4 when I first tried this a week ago, and I still have it. Both those DLLs are in the Recettear main folder and I ran the setup.exe and moved all files to said folder...

Basically I did everything as it was described, from what I can tell, and... all I get is the above...

I just re-read what you posted.  I don't know what's causing it.  I only get the error when it can't find the two dll files.

The two dll files are tied to Windows Media Player.  Perhaps, install WMP and see if that works?

I moved all the files from "Recettear Launcher" to "Recettear - An Item Shop's Tale"-- every single one.

Read my edit of the previous post.  You said you don't have WMP installed right?

Well, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that, but now that I did, it works. I thought it could work without WMP, which I think you said as much, but ah well...

I actually oiy'ed when I found out why WMP was even necessary. This apparently has music/sounds. Which I thought was silly at first, but it's actually kinda charming. Good work. I'll be enjoying this for a bit.

No problem.  The truth is the WMP is only required because of compatibility with the demo version.  I could probably remove the need for WMP by making it no longer compatible(music wise) with the demo.

That would be nice. I really dislike WMP these days. But it's not a huge deal.

As a bit of a note, the game, when loaded from the launcher, doesn't seem to be accepting my key input. When I close the launcher (after making the changes I want, which save fine), I can run the game directly and it works (again, with changes applies).

So it works fine. It's functional and does what I want it to do (thanks for that, again). Just thought I'd bring that up...

I've noticed that bug too actually.  For the life of me, I can't figure out what causes it since it only happens some of the time.  I've mostly ignored it so far because it's such a minor bug though.  I've been debating launching the game with different code.

Also, I was looking into it and I may be able to dump WMP and retain the ability to play wma files but you'd still need a compatible codec.

They aren't WMA anymore. Since full version they've been WAV.

I'm guessing WMP could be dropped without consequence except for the demo version not being supported. Don't know if that's worth it, but personally wouldn't think it is.

Your problem, your call. Thanks again.

This doesn't seem to work with win7, steam version of Recettear, latest .NET, and latest WMP

The exe does absolutely nothing, though it creates a process that hangs around in process list for a minute or so.

Files places in Recettear directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\recettear)

Edit:  Nevermind, I figured it out.  I had to use one of the earlier DL links.  The 1.06 link doesn't contain all the required files.

Found another bug, if you switch an item off of one adventurer and onto another, it deletes the save file.

I.E. I take a wing charm off of Caillou, and then put that same wing charm onto Elan.

It seems to only affect it if you do it in the same session; you can take an item off, enter the game, and then exit and put the item onto another adventurer.

Well, there's your problem, this seems to be a non-standard library. If you remove the WMP plugin along with the references, it should work.
That's so much! You're being selfish! And mean!
