Game won't save.

Dunno why but Recettear wont save the options or my actual in game saves. I bought it through steam so I don't know if my computer is blocking any access the program has to my files or what. Every other steam game works fine.

I do wonder why the support team didn't give any help... because this is kind of necessary to play. :P

If others have this problem and if failedtoopen is still watching this thread I think I may bump it.  ;)

This got posted while we were at AX, so :V

Anyway, this is usually caused by Windows 7 not allowing you to save into the game directory; try running the game in Administrator mode and see if that helps.

Ahh, yup, that would make sense. (However, I don't run in Administrator mode and it works fine, so you must have stronger security. (Which I suppose is good, most of the time. (I have my security on! Don't think I'm not secured or anything and ping me to death. :I)))

I am having the same problem with this it worked a couple of months ago and I still have my saves from then but now it seems i cant save or find were my old saves files are on my computer even though i can still load my old saves. It wont even let me delete my old saves on the game they just keep coming back.  I cant run in administrator mode because steam doesn't give me a option to do so.

If you have a shortcut for it on your desktop, right click it and go into properties. Changing the permissions of who can use/edit the file might help.
I'm also on Windows 7, but my account is the administrator account. If you are using a guest or other account, you might not have permission to access the save files.

Start->Run->gpedit.msc

Computer Configuration->Windows Settings->Security Settings->Local Policies->Security Options

Scroll down to "User Access Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode."  Set it to disabled.  Reboot.

Shouldn't have an admin problem anymore.  Please note that you won't get the "are you sure you want to do this?" window anymore when running executables etc.

It is suppose to protect you when something runs that you did not intend to run(ie: while web browsing).  I find spybot's passive registry blocker to be far more effective since it will prompt you for all registry changes.  They pop up far less frequently and some subtle registry changes can be pretty dangerous and annoying to fix.

I personally prefer to keep them on, as I'm just paranoid like that. But if it's a choice between that and playing Recettear...

Well, I'd probably just turn it on and off as neccessary... but I definitely wouldn't sacrifice my ability to enjoy some good quality gaming no matter what.
