I can see why the DHM version is considered to be less than stellar. ("Shiled"?)

Wow... I wasn't intentionally looking for a screenshot with a typo. O.O

I can't understand how a company releasing a game to market would be so lacking in a spell-check. We're not talking "truck" vs "lorry" here. Shield vs shiled and prairie vs whatever was spelled.... I can't comprehend the laziness. you can't catch all of the mistakes, but so many of them means someone didn't care. It was a job, not a product.

I was actually talking to a friend about this very subject (mentioning the typo in the above screenshot), and we agreed that if you're charging people for it, that you should not only run it through a spell-checker program, but also hire somebody to MANUALLY check it for things like grammar and (if the program somehow missed any) typos...

If it's a free, fan-translation, and you for some reason don't have access to any free help, I'd be a bit more lax in my expectations. But they would STILL include the spell-checker...

I've read through my own written works numerous times and still occasionally catch a misspelling that spell-check doesn't find ( missing letter on a word that doesn't grammatically screw up the sentence enough for the comp). It happens, but I would never release for sale something that is half a step above Zero Wing.

Regardless... I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Chantelise (even the release date announcement). They've got at least one guaranteed sale.

Okay, I l finished playing to the ending of Chantelise, translated by DHM, and am wondering exactly what happened in one of the scenes. I'm also wondering exactly what happened in an earlier scene.

So... I guess I'm looking forward to Carpe Fulgur's translation which will hopfully be easier to fully understand. ^^

Let's just say one of the (continuing) delays is in making sure the script is exactly right. As in asking EGS for clarification on a single plot point which wouldn't be that important but we wanted to get right *anyway*.

It's still coming, have no fear.

This is why I love CF... well, this and other reasons, but still...

Isn't relasing perfect demo on steam (or anywhere else) and then polishing up the rest of the script for full release a viable solution?
Or are there some certain legal issues that prevent such release?
IIRC Recettear demo came out months before official release.

About two months, I think. Some of the delay between demo and release may have been in trying to get a distributor.

I'm guessing that the plot point clarification is in the bit to be demoed. That, and considering the ways the early Recettear demo could be broken by unexpected player obsession (also bugged critter damage, which would probably be rather more noticeable in Chantelise), releasing a Perfect Demo might be really important in CF's minds.

Well, the trick is, in ironing out the wrinkles for the demo, we've, uh... completed the game in the process. :V Chantelise's script is much smaller than Recettear's; in fact, the events have been done for a month now. Technically speaking, we could even release the game right this moment and it would be understandable front to back. We're just not satisfied with certain hardcoded elements yet (CE has a bit more of this than Rec did) and these apply to both the demo and full game, and we're determined to give everyone the best experience possible. So there'll be a bit more of a wait while the last wrinkles are ironed out.

Welp, just chap on my window once it's out.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.
