Whenever I launch the demo, as soon as an audio clip is supposed to be played, the game crashes. Music plays just fine.

Specs:

i7 1.6ghz processor(laptop)
4 gigs of RAM
Windows 7 64bit
Nvidia gtx 240
Realtek HD audio

I'm not really sure what to do...

Did you update your soundcard drivers? Did you try disabling sound hardware acceleration in
Start->Run..->dxdiag?

I had some (I think) sound-related issues that were solved by getting FFDShow, there's a linky in my earlier post. I have Realtek onboard audio which seems like what you have as well, so it might be worth checking out.

I got FFDShow, and I updated my sound driver as much as the Lenovo website had.... Not gonna try anything else cause I lost my sound for a longggg time. Still doesn't work.


How do I do the dxdiag?

If your startmenu doesn't show the run command thingy you could hit the windowskey + r to bring it up and then just type dxdiag to start it.

Start menu -> run -> type in "dxdiag" and run it. Then hit "save all information" and give us the text.

Hi I just download the demo to check out the game since I saw someone play it on Youtube and i thought it was interesting.  But everytime I click New Game and that fairy comes into the screen it crashes.  If i skip everything and try to leave the shop it crashes.  Below is my dxdiag  information.  Please any help is appreciated.

Both Kenchan and Shroob are using Realtek onboard audio version 6.00.0001.xxxx

I'm using Realtek onboard audio with driver version 5.10.0000.5672 which works for me. I had issues before installing FFDShow but I've been able to beat the game multiple times without a hitch afterwards.

The most current driver version offered by Realtek is ->6.1.6001.33<-

I couldn't find a source for my driver version and I'm a bit worried that if I upgrade I'll walk into the same problem you guys are having, but since things aren't working as is for you guys anyway, either of you mind downloading those drivers and seeing if that helps?

Ack. I downloaded the first link on that page last time(before I posted here), and I had to do a complete re-installation of the realtek drivers because it wiped realtek off my system.

Also, idk if I've said this yet, but I also have FFDShow.

I'm out of ideas, my gut feeling is that there's some kind of issue with the RealTek cards but I can't pinpoint it.

i have had issues with FFDSHOW before.   It is used by my video players for certain shows,  but i dont let it run with any games and the good thing is it rarely does. 



Disabling ffdshow has solved some crashing problems i have encountered in games.


*general description*

[Win XP]  go to->  START button// All programs// ffdshow folder.

-click the "Audio decoder configuration" to launch the config window.  It should have a listing on the left side of the window.  go to-> Info & debug.   

-and you now should see a check box for "Don't use ffdshow in:" and a space for you to type in that window.
checkmark the box and type in the name of the program in the space.

[examples.  use semi-colon to separate for other programs you have problems with.] 
minesweeper.exe;oblivion.exe;blank.exe


hopefully this helps some people out.   i do have an older version ffdshow so the menus may be a bit different.
(i have only experienced conflicts with the sound decoder.  You can also try disabling Video decoder config as well.  same directions as above.)
