Favorite Woolseyisms?

I heard someone compare Carpe Filher to a modern Ted Woolsey.

What is your favorite Woolseyism?

Would you agree with that assesment?

Meaning no offense to Carpe Fulgur, but I'll wait until they have a few more games localized before I can decide.

There's a thin line between "localizing" and "look at me I'm being clever" (which is especially difficult when the source text is pretty referential in the first place). Woolsey went back and forth across that line a few times, but on balance I don't have a bad impression overall.

So far I haven't seen anything in Recettear which crosses that line, but it's not like I've seen the entire game script.

Again, it's not that being Clever is bad, as much doing it too much is.

So far Recettear seems like the sort of thing Terry Pratchett would do if he wrote dialogue for games. And I mean that in the best way possible, it only took a few lines before I pre-ordered :P

I'm sure there's some real hilariously awesome lines in the full version too, as if the demo didn't have enough (hell, nearly every line is hilarious one way or another)

You may have a point, Wizzard.

Although I don't really get a Pratchett-esque vibe from the dialogue as such. I can kind of see it, but it's not what I'd associate with that. This is a little more obvious in its jokes: it works better for a script, but less so for prose style.

(This applies to Terry Pratchett. Rhianna Pratchett, which I recognize from the Overlord games, may be slightly closer.)
