Netbook support?
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:19:36 AM »
Has anyone tried this game on a Netbook?  Specifically, a 1024X576 resolution screen?  I would assume it would work, given the windowed options, but I want to be sure before i buy this for any friend with a netbook only.   Thanks.

If it's a netbook with Intel Integrated Graphics, the performance will be pants, mind. That said, the game should boot.

Yeap,I tried it when I was out of the country visiting a friend to get him to try the demo out.
It worked, but it felt like it was on bullet time 24/7...
...I found it hilarious,to be honest.

Huh.  Didn't realize it needed any sort of sysreqs. Guess the sprites fooled me.  As well.  my comp will run it at least :)

I just tested it on my netbook, an Asus Eee Pc 1008ha.

CPU: 1.6ghz Intel Atom
Graphics: Intel GMA 950 (The.. well.. suboptimal onboard-graphics chip)
Ram: 1gb

The game really turns into a slide-show, even if you deactivate all special effects the game provides.
But if you limit the framerate in the options, the game turns somewhat smooth again. I find that I can play it perfectly set to 30fps.

the only real problem I had was that the options screen in itself is too big to fit the tiny resolution. Kudos for letting me choose 640x480 or 800x600, but what does it help if the option-screen itself higher than 600 pixel?

I say its definitly playable. Just not the prettiest thing.

Just change your resolution (FN+..uh..F3 or F4, I think. Too lazy to go check my 1000HA) to 1024*768. Sure, the aspect ratio will be way out, but it'll fit. If you're on Windows 7 you'll need to edit a registry key to get that mode working, thanks to Intel's... amazingly lacklustre driver support.
