Problem with Intro/Menu screen

Looking forward to trying this game via the Recettear Demo from Steam, but I can't get past the main menu. I can move up and down, access the top menus (File/Display/Help), and I can hit Esc to pull up an exit prompt out of the game but I am not able to click on or select any of the menu options (New Game/Item Encyclopedia/Options/Exit). Any idea if I am doing something wrong or if it's a bug? I've tried different keys beyond the obvious Enter or Spacebar and clicking on them to no avail.

have you tried setting your keys on the config.exe?Right click/launch config tool on recette's entry on steam if you haven't.

Otherwise,I got no clue.

That helped. I didn't think of trying Z to confirm action until I saw it assigned on the configuration tool, and just missed it when pressing random keys  Thanks!

The controls ARE somewhat different from what I'm used to. It took me a little time to figure them out myself. Maybe you should put up a note somewhere so people know instantly what to press? .w.

Steam does prompt you if you want to start the configuration utility or the game itself, though it should probably say something like

[ ] Start game
[ ] Configure controls and video settings

instead to be clear

You can rebound the keys,ya know...although the way it rebinds it's a bit of a pain,if you ask me.Also,some keys refuse to be set.

Yea, I know. I just assume that the standard behaviour is to start the game, get frustrated over why it doesn't work, THEN look at the settings. Most people like to just pop in their game and play away.

I don't mean to be a pain in the ass here, I'm actually a really nice guy. We could sit down, have a cup of coffee, have a conversation. But I have to say if you can't get past reading the instructions then it's your own damn fault.

I used to believe it was an RTFM issue but after far to long dealing with things like this I sadly think this simply PEBKAC.

I simply mean to take out a tiny bit of frustration.
It's not a big deal, but I assume that player like to play their game right away. The configuration Z,X,C,V is something that is rarely used in these parts and a little note would simply avoid confusion.

It's better than to go and tell player to "RTFM".

I actually guessed Z and X and such since those are the same controls for Emulators and such. 

And who cares if he didn't read the FAQ!

Some people really like to make a simple question a bigger issue then it is   I had a question. I saw a forum. I asked. Didn't need all the melodrama just for that. I still don't see a FAQ in the forums here. Maybe I'm blind, but I had looked before asking.

The F.A.Q will be in the Manual folder inside the Recettear directory.
