General Discussion / Re: So... do we have any idea what project #4 is?
« on: March 18, 2013, 03:36:15 PM »
I hope we all realise whatever P4 will be it will probably NEVER live up to hype CF created, it will be Duke Nukem Forever all over again me thinks :/
Lesson to learn: don't announce project that you can't talk about

Eh, CF hasn't been building any hype, really. All my hype comes only from the fact that they have a nack for choosing awesome games so I can't wait to see which (most likely) awesome game they have in the works. That's all. Even if it ends up not being to my taste, that still leaves them with a pretty great track record, especially when you factor in Territoire which I'm looking forward to, either way.

Also, DNF stepped on almost every single developmental landmine there is. People tend to use the DNF analogy way too loosely, IMO.

It is a range of Hatsune Miku products.
The problem was they decided to dub her into english using Spacedrake's voice. They have taken so long getting it just perfect.  ;)
Dub...
Miku's...
Voice...

I take great offense from this post.

Anyway, my backlog is too long for me to bother even paying attention to what's coming out... But I'm still watching CF. Right now, it's pretty much the only company I'll put everything else on hold for just to play whatever you guys release so whenever you want me to throw money at you, just say the word.

I'm really not surprised FS couldn't match Rec in sales. Rec is a novel game that's very friendly to all skill levels. FS has a harder fighter-style mechanic which turns a lot of people off. I loved the hell out of FS and the challenge it delivered but on the forums I visit some people couldn't even get into the demo and they went so far as to call the controls broken. I tried to push the game as best I could but I have to be honest when I do and so I have to warn of the difficulty and the various bugs that affected a minority of players. Rec is much easier to recommend. It's a good game for almost anyone and is bug-free, AFAIK, so I pretty much just have to say "Play it. Play it now." =P

Indeed, FS was one of my favorite games of this year and I sing it's praises to friends and forums but I always have to add addendums about playing the demo to make sure people aren't affected by the game-breaking bug and I have to mention the difficulty (though, I do it in a positive light) since a lot of people won't welcome the challenge. Recettear is a lot easier to recommend since it has a lot more mass appeal. I sing the praises of all the CF games, though, so I let people take their pick, lol.

Well, even if it's not a project or a commercial release, a CF original mini thingy free-to-download would interest me if only for some lols. The epic quest to deliver P4 to the world - Travel to distant lands, defeat the evil wizard and break the spell that has sealed SpaceDrake's mouth for millennia...

Or something.

Grabbed Cherry Tree High since I have a feeling it won't become a daily and the price is good already, anyway. I'll probably grab Fairy Bloom Freesia at some point, too.

It's been awhile since I played so I don't recall what chest you're talking about but one thing I do remember is that the game has plenty of useless items, lol. The broken lamp, though, is one of the item shop quest items. Most item shop quest items can be gotten as drops but most also have a chest somewhere just in case you didn't get it as a drop, I guess. That's probably why it's there.

Update. And a sale has begun quicker than I expected.  ;D
CF games are all 50%, various other deals.
Analogue is currently on $2.50 for those that weren't sure about picking it up. Gundemonium and eXceed bundles for only $5.

I very much enjoyed Analog: A Hate Story. I won't say it's exceptional or that it's a must-read but I did turn around and download some other Christine Love games because of it - Digital: A Love Story and Don't Take it Personally, Babe, it Just Ain't Your Story. Those two are free and a good indication of Love's writing. If you're unsure about paying for Analogue, give one of those free games a whirl: blog.scoutshonour.com

I'll probably grab Fairy Bloom Freesia while it's on sale and I've got my eye on Cherry Tree High but that one's not on sale.

General Discussion / Re: Steam Summer Sale - 2012 Edition
« on: July 27, 2012, 07:21:42 PM »
In short, please stop doing this.  I like the games you produce.  I'm willing to save up the money and pay the full price for the game.  However, every time I see the price drop, something inside of me hurts and I just don't feel as happy paying what is a good price for an independently created game.  In the end, I don't believe Carpe Fulgur will have much of a future financially if it keeps using cheap psychological tactics like the Steam Sale to promote your games - ESPECIALLY new game releases.

If you look up actual figures, Steam sales are a great boon for all companies involved (otherwise they wouldn't still be having them, lol). There will always be people interested enough to pay full price and there will always be people that hold out for a good price and there will always be reluctant people that will only buy at rock-bottom prices. You seem to be one of the middle customers. There's nothing wrong with that at all but there are only a few big Steam sales a year and no guarantees a game you want will be 75% off during that sale so when Fortune Summoners released I was happy to grab it at launch rather than wait so long with the hope it would be cheaper come the Summer Sale. I will probably feel the same way with the next game, too.

As to that, how goes Fortune Summoners?  Can someone tell us anything about the sales numbers as they stand?
Sales number are incoming. More news in this thread.

Make sure the spells you want to use are active in the current book (I've never had reason to seperate the spells into various books, I just put all active spells in Book A), then make sure the one you want is selected (it will be indicated in the upper-right), then hold down the spell cast button until the magic circle is fully charged and release to cast the spell. Alternatively, you can press up/down (IIRC) before releasing to change the target of the spell if it's a target-able spell.

Thanks! ... Now I'm trying to remember the Zelda joke. It's been awhile so I can't recall...

I dunno, that's a pretty tall order for Carpe Fulgur, a localization team, lol. LizSoft, pretty much a one-man studio, developed Fortune Summoners and as of right now he's not writing any games, AFAIK. See this thread for more info.

Research about what they did to Elin class in TERA.

They stole my midriffs! LOL, I played an Elin class char in the open beta. I guess I have to revoke my enjoyment of it because of a change I never knew about until now.

It's not censored at all. "Censoring", by definition, is done by a third party regardless of the original creator's consent. For example, bleeping words on tv is censorship since they don't bother asking the original speaker whether or not it's ok to do so. This was done with full cooperation of LizSoft so it's not censorship. It's a version update in response to feedback.
