^ funny you should mention that, as I happened to find out about
this yesterday. Flipping that could be a bit of a chore compared to regular table though.
As for the topic at hand....sigh. Well, not sure if I have right to complain about stuff like this, because I'm probably already seen as an ungrateful-bastard-that-does-nothing-but-bitch-and-moan-on-what-Carpe-Fulgur-is-doing-because-he-clearly-knows-how-to-handle-the-situation-in-best-possible-way-and-Carpe-Fulgur-team-are-clueless-in-every-aspect-of-it (despite the fact that I supported CF by purchasing every game they released so far) , but...*sigh*, it probably needs to be said anyway.
With how the situation is handled so far, as a consumer I have no point in waiting now, this is like Retro City Rampage all over again.... and this shit just got released after a long stall and pointless teasing. Except that this time, we don't even know what game is it. Maybe it is for better so we wouldn't get another RCR scenario, I don't know what's worse.
Spacedrake has said multiple times, that if this game would be announced, it would recieve some serious positive attention (not exact words, just the meaning).
Seeing as:
-Project Four has been announced in July or June
2011, maybe even earlier as I recall existence of both this and Project Three (soon later to be revealed to be Fortune Summoners) has been announced at the same time, when Chantelise got definitive release date. Can't confirm that because tweets don't go that far back (or I just have no patience in scrolling through them). Either way, no "regular" sized game would take this long to translate (then again, what do I know, it's just one translator and one editor in the team, big companies could just have dozens of translators and two or three similary minded editors to get the job done faster, though I guess that having one editor would make script much more consistent).
-XSEED is trying to push for PC market
-Andrew Dice of Carpe Fulgur was featured in Special Thanks part of credits in Ys: Oath of Felghana (how many Andrew Dices are in the world that were born that are 28/29 (
happy bday btw), live in Portland, Oregon and on top of that are fans of Ys games (or anything Falcom related) and have their own localization company?)
-Andrew Dice teased about partnering with one out of four localization companies this year, one of which was XSEED.
-
This topic exists (see half of page 1 and then a bit further).
..then you just might as well admit that you've been contacted to work with XSEED on translating Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter for PC (and PSP?), and maybe are also helping out with PC release of FC. (If it really isn't TitS related, then I have no fucking clue what else could possible cause so much Fan-gasm if announced).
NDAs may be NDAs, but if you've actually gotten to work on some cool japanese indie games that nobody knows about, you'd be close to releasing Project
Five by now and been drinking to possible success of Project Four A for a while now.
I hope that
XSEED your partners will read this entire topic and rethink their PR strategy, because that secrecy is clearly not doing them anything good.
