Plank Walls
Quality Plank Floors
Green Carpet
Barrel Counters

This is my favored setup for a Light/Plain mood.

I have to wonder, how many joysticks/gamepads do you have plugged in at once?  I'm pretty sure the game only detects up to two total and only allows you to assign bindings for one at a time.

To unlock Elan the Black Belt:  I met him in the pub, then I met him in the park another day and finally he showed up at my shop while it was in a "Plain" mood.  He's dirt poor when you first sell to him so don't bother with anything above the first tier of items for the first couple of sales.  This also means you should put out cheap stuff for him to buy.

Well, I will just add a cherry-bomb to the discussion by saying this: whatever effect the leak had, the past 48 hours have been our strongest sales period ever (without giving exact numbers). Would we have gotten even more sales without the leak? I dunno, but as near as I can tell it hasn't actually affected our sales rate much.

Honestly, I would have been surprised if the pirating did have a negative impact on it.

Generally speaking, I'd say that piracy helps games that people enjoy and hurts games they don't enjoy.  It does this much in the same way as normal word of mouth advertising works.  People get a better idea of whether they'll like your game before ever buying it.  So, yeah, whether they like it or not probably has the biggest impact on whether piracy hurts or helps you.

I've noticed that if your shop doesn't have the right "mood" then certain people wont show.  You could try redecorating or sell different items.

Metal items just lowered price for me so I can add a few to the list:

Metal:
Common Shield
Big Shield
Knight Shield
Iron Armband
Spiked Armband
Strongarm Band
Warrior's Helm
Parade Helm
Standard Charm
Popular Charm
Magnet Necklace
Hard Boots
Pretty Wand
Longbow
Iron Spear
Grand Naginata
Steel Breastplate
Iron Armor
Parade Armor

Not Metal:
Wooden Shield
Wooden Armband
Wooden Helm
Silver Helm
Souvenir Charm
Sand Charm
Practice Lance
Laundry Pole

The general rule seems to be any item that's made out of a non-precious metal (no silver or gold) or has metal parts.

I've found that keeping a more or less neutral mood and placing various expensive items in the window with similar type items(usually of lower value) in the rest of the store works well.  You should try to keep a stock of every type of item so you can take advantage of high sell prices.  Also, I stock my vending machine with various cheap stuff for extra sales.  I haven't really been dungeon diving because I still only have the Jade Way even though I've had Charme working for me for over a week now.

I wasn't condemning them for not locking the thread.  I'm just saying that it's surprising.  Flame wars have started over far less.

Though, it did get heated.  I'm surprised people have been more or less keeping their cool in this thread.

First post. Great game! Got it from Steam.

Also, sorry if this question has been asked before, but what is metal? My customers keep asking for it.
I'm guessing they want armor.  It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

I feel like an idiot.

Speaking of feeling like an idiot, what exactly are cold weather clothes? I tried some robes before...
I got an order for rings and it shows in the list as metal items.  So, maybe that's it?

Edit: Weird, I'm sure he asked for rings but that didn't work.

Getting her to join seems a bit random but I've always had success with her joining using my usual 110% sell and 65% buy.  It'll hit nearpins with a lot of people and I haven't had anyone refuse it, unless I tried to sell something they didn't have enough money for.

I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of stating you wont include items that aren't in the demo while including an item that isn't found in the demo.

I noticed that the drops got way better in the official game than it was in the demo.  I was lucky to find Iron Armor in the demo but suddenly Silver stuff drops on my first run of The Jade Way.

@Doniazade:  You've had Crystal Sword in your list since Recettear was first announced on Steam.  I'm reasonably certain that's not obtainable in the demo through legitimate means(I, personally, never found better than the Steel Sword and I had to buy that).  Though, you can unlock all items in the demo through non-standard methods.  As for pirating it and unlocking that sword in time to make that post, I'm not sure that's even possible.  I don't think the pirated version was even released by the time he posted that.  I'm not trying to promote piracy.  I just don't see how anyone could pirate it and unlock the ultimate weapon before even the pirate release was made.  It's all moot now either way, since it officially released several hours ago.

Discussing DRM or piracy on a game forum can be almost as bad as discussing religion or politics in general.  I can't think of anything on that topic that hasn't already been said in this thread.  In almost any other official game forum, this thread would have been locked immediately.

I just thought I'd mention that I'm glad Steam finally unlocked.

I'm surprised that my launcher works just fine with the official release.  Though, the background music was broken because they changed the music to wave files, not that I'm complaining.  I'm not particularly fond of the wma format.

I'm probably going to add a form to it for viewing and deleting saves.  I might add other options like creating backups or adding additional save slots(even though the game would still only see the first 90 or so).  I might even let you name them.  It might be a few days before I update it because I'm kind of busy playing the game right now. ;D

You could intentionally corrupt a save to effectively delete it since it would no longer show up as having a save there.

If you want, I could probably add the ability to preview/delete saves to the launcher I made.  It would take me a little while to add that though.  I'd have to dig into the save.dat quite a bit to figure that one out(the preview part; the deleting is as easy as simply finding the particular save and writing a bad value to it).
