Well, that's true that you won't out the last Atelier trilogy with an indie budget.
I was just saying that there's a lot of gamers out there who don't really want to play a game where they're a 15 year old girl in a short skirt running around. Even if the game is good.

Also, Meruru in space? Yes please.

Another item shop game?

I'd buy it. Probably. If there's enough effort and something original in it.

Recettear is already a cool game, but there's lot of things you can do with the idea.

You can have better alchemy, non random dungeons (or random ones that are not just square rooms and corridors) and better combat (I love real time, so I'd say like Ys Origins).
Or the possibility to grow some ingredients yourself.
Or you can also take it more of an economy simulation, like having to adapt your shop to the place you are, maybe moving it when you get richer, having some adventurers get your stuff in dungeons alone, or a clerk keeping the store while you're exploring, etc.

Well, these things have already been done in other games : Harvest Moon, the Atelier series, etc. But the latter is too otaku-oriented to touch a large public.

So yeah. Just keep the visuals and scenario relatively mainstream and it should feel like an original game for most of the potential customers.

Speaking of Falcom games: while we wait to know whatever Project 4 is, the guys at ancient land of Ys announced the coming release of a fan translation patch for Zwei 2.

System Prisma, the studio who made Cladun, is a subsidiary of NIS.

You were expecting Cladun HD? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of Cladun?
You're right, it woudn't be the same.

Legasista looks a lot like an HD version, tough.
Same developpers, same type of game, only less pixels.

Also, I don't think that it being on Steam and even recommending it on Steam is weird. Steam is a haven of plenty of retro, pixel art games from indie developers. I recommend it wholeheartedly. Maybe not to the folks who only tend to use Steam to buy the new "AAA", high graphics games. But the folks who quickly let out there money for the retro indie stuff, yeah, it's right up their alley. But maybe that's my hardcore NIS fandom coming out.

It's not the fact that this game is on steam with all it's pixels glory that's weird.
It's the fact that it's a direct port - straight from the PSP. with a pretty bad fullscreen support, at least on my computer.
And released just a week before Legasista on the PSN, witch made me immediatly think "Cladun HD".

... didn't stopped me from buying it, as I will also buy Legasista and Mugen souls. I just love NIS.

Don't know if that counts as a good game, but Cladun X2 just came out on Steam.

That's... surprising.
Cladun is nice on a PSP, but, well, unless you're an hardcore fan of the series, or of NIS, or you just love having thumb-sized pixels on your screen; it's an hard game to recommand on PC.
But if you like real-time 2D dungeon crawling and you find Recettear or Ys too simple, you might want to give it a shot anyway.

Cherry Tree High Comedy Club just came out and is available through gamersgate.
It's like a dating sim without the sex innuendo.

As for the localization... Well, it make me realize how much extra polish the Carpe Fulgur team add to their releases - like having a font that blend well in the game, or not having the text wrapping haphazardly.
At least, it's playable.

Just finished Ys, and, surprise, Andrew Dice (SpaceDrake) is cited in the credits.
Anyway, it's a pretty nice game, with fun combat and good bosses, go get it if you havn't yet.

As for issues with PM4, the only issue is that it features underage girls (like that was ever a problem for CF)

Well, there are some in Onechanbara, in Hyperdimension Neptunia, in Deathsmiles, in X Blades, Pangya, etc.
I don't think young girls are really an issue.

You can save at inns.

And for the battles, well, pratice is the only way. Learn your moves in the game menu, and train.
Don't forget to upgrade your equipment, too.

A little tip: enemies stop following you if you are far from their spawning point, you can chip their health by attacking and retreating.

No problem here, but, anyone who got the crashing bug, have you verified your cache files in Steam?
(Right click / Properties / local files)

Thrust-slash-wideslash make your attacks reach your enemies despise the knockback.

It's not really fluid as they're not really chaining together, but it's still useful in the early levels.

Before exploring these caves, you have to talk to: boys front of the tower, then to the guy in the mill (the left one, in Barness), then to the mayor.
Done? OK. Now, If my map is correct...

From the inn in Barness:

-Take the gate left to the inn,

-Go left, take the first cave you'll find

-go down, exit the cave

-then all the way to the right, go to the cave

-you'll find the room with four blocks, push them all in the water to the right, the jump across the water to reach a switch.

-continue your exploration of the caves, you can't be lost from here (only one exit available from here). After two rooms, you'll find a little altar, it will trigger an event.

If you haven't talk to the mayor, nothing will happen.

I seem to be having an issue. I went to the lady beside arche's house and brought the guard his lunch, but he still won't let me inside the wind shrine. There's pretty much nothing I can do, went everywhere again just incase, but the guard simply won't let me in and I already gave him his lunch. Was wondering if anyone else was having this problem, or if I just did it wrong

Now, talk to the lady next to the broken bridge (get out of the town by going left of the inn, go on, you'll find her)

Wow, these game mechanics brings a lot of memories of old games. Landstalker anyone?
