General Discussion / Re: Localization Suggestion: Rewrite

I can testify to the ridiculous length of Key scripts... I translated a single route of Little Busters that was 7,000 lines long. And that's just one of the ordinary routes which was a great deal shorter than the common or final route. And there was about 7 of these. We're talking something like 30-40 hours of nothing but pure text. Plus there's no way the game would be within the price range of most consumers... VNs aren't cheap at all.
Gotta agree on that, Little Busters was quite long despite being shorter than Clannad and I have read Rewrite is even longer than Clannad. Sigh, I guess there will never be a market for visual novels here in the western world. Gotta learn japanese or be patient and wait till a translation group translates the novel I want to read.

Not to answer for them, but I think that they're only interested in Steam friendly titles. And while it's true that Steam has many non-games, I don't think that's the sort of thing Carpe Fulgur is interested in. That would be Mangagamer's forte.

It would be interesting if Mangagamer would put their games on Steam, though. I'm sure they'd sell more copies. And I'd love to have a copy if Higurashi no Naku Koro ni on Steam. If Steam would allow it. If they allow things like Dear Esther, they sure as heck ought to!

Well, I read Steam was interested in a demo of Steins;Gate according to the fan translation group before they split. Also, I believe Rewrite like Little Busters have minigames.

Hi Carpe Fulgur, first of all, thanks for localizing and fully translating Recettear, Chantelise and now Fortune Summoners. Thanks for your hard work, it has made me pass a great time playing Recettear.

I was wondering if you have plan for localizing Visual Novels to the western market. Personally, I love them but it saddens me that no one tries to even officially localize them, instead for us that we don't know japanese, we must wait till a fan translation group do that and it make take quite some years.

Why I'm asking for Rewrite?; Key is one of the most talented studios in making visual novels, perhaps only rivaled by Nitro+; originally I would have asked for Steins;Gate but read somewhere another localizing studio got the rights for it but haven't heard anything of Rewrite. Clannad, which is an old visual novel by Key, is quite popular thanks to the anime and I believe all the fans of Clannad, Air, Kanon and Angel Beats would love to read Rewrite.

Even if you don't have plans on translating Rewrite, is there any chance Carpe Fulgur will localize any visual novel?
